favorite actors and actresses and the movies they were in. I have to post atleast one picture from most the movies I have seen them in!
The first actor I chose is, James "Jimmy" Stewart!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Stratton Story, 1949!
Producers first considered Van Johnson and Gregory Peck for the role of Monty Stratton before finally settling on James Stewart, who was the first choice of the real Monty Stratton.
Producers originally considered Donna Reed for the role of Ethel Stratton but replaced her with June Allyson after signing James Stewart, since the previous film they had both appeared in, It's a Wonderful Life, had been a disappointment at the box office.
In August 1947, Van Johnson and Janet Leigh were set to star.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
You Can't Take it With You, 1938!
When AP greets Tony on entering the office, the position of AP's arm with his hat changes.
Ann Miller once said that doing the ballet moves for this movie were extremely painful and she would often be crying in between takes. She never told anybody the reason why and James Stewart, assuming she was upset about something, would have boxes of candy sent to her to make her feel better.
--------------------------------------------------The Philadelphia Story, 1940!
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Shenandoah, 1965!
The opening battle scenes are taken from Raintree County and are printed as a mirror image of the original footage. (The same scenes can also be seen in, among other films, How the West Was Won.)
During much of the farm sequences, you can see the distinct shadow of the camera
When Boy and other confederate troops are being attacked by union troops, Boy is firing a Trapdoor Springfield rifle, which was not invented until after the civil war.
During the boy's battle the morning after his escape from prison, you can see the bayonet of a confederate soldier wobble revealing that it is made of rubber.
In the scene in which Charlie Anderson talks to Colonel Fairchild about his mistakenly abducted son in the Union camp, there is clearly a white automobile being driven (from right to left) in the background.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Harvey, 1950!
--------------------------------------------------------
Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, 1939!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, 1962!
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Man Who Knew too Much, 1956!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's A Wonderful Life, 1946!
The gym floor that opens up to reveal a swimming pool was real and was located at Beverly Hills High School in Los Angeles.
James Stewart cited George Bailey as being his favorite character. The part was originally developed at another studio with Cary Grant earmarked for the role. When Frank Capra inherited the project, he rewrote it to suit Stewart.
While filming the scene where George prays in the bar, James Stewart has said that he was so overcome that he began to sob right then and there. Later, Frank Capra reframed the shot so it looked like a much closer shot than was actually filmed because he wanted to catch that expression on Stewart's face.
--------------------------------------------------------------My second one is Jane Powell!
Hit The Deck, 1955!
-----------------------------------------------------------
Nancy Goes to Rio, 1950!
This is a remake of the Deanna Durbin film It's a Date. Both films were produced by Joe Pasternak, and in both the young star sings "Musetta's Waltz Song" from Puccini's opera "La Boheme".
When Nancy returns to her room after the shipboard dinner, it is late at night, but whenever we see the ocean behind her, it is bright day.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, 1954!
For the brides costumes, designer Walter Plunkett went to the Salvation Army, found old quilts and turned them into dresses.
Jacques d'Amboise had to leave before filming was finished because he was still under contract with the New York City Ballet, so someone filled in for him during the last few days. You can see someone else playing Ephraim in the scene where the brothers are pacing downstairs while Milly is giving birth.
MGM considered this a B movie - they had higher aspirations for the more expensive Brigadoon. For this reason, they slashed the budget on "Seven Brothers", forcing Stanley Donen to use painted backdrops instead of location filming.
Milly's white dress is long at the barn raising and when she returns home to minister to the brawling brothers. However, when she's dancing with Frank it's a little above her ankles.
In "Wonderful, Wonderful Day" birds fly onto the set and and several crash into the painted backdrop in the background
Many of the actor's singing voices were dubbed in this movie: Matt Mattox's singing was dubbed by Bill Lee, Nancy Kilgas's singing was dubbed by Marie Greene, Julie Newmar's singing was dubbed by Betty Allen, two of the brothers had their singing dubbed by Allan Davies and Charlie Parlato, Ruta Lee had her singing dubbed by Betty Noyes, and Betty Carr had her singing dubbed by Norma Zimmer.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Three Daring Daughters, 1948!
-------------------------------------------------------------
Two Weeks With Love, 1950!
The main hotel set had been used some months previously in Annie Get Your Gun. Clinton Sundberg appeared as the hotel manager in both films. In the same "waste not, want not" tradition, some of the "Annie" costumes were also reused
As the parents (Horatio and Katherine) are getting ready to go to "the dance", daughter (Patti) ties her dad's bow tie. She is behind his back and cannot see that she is not tying it centered on her dad's celluloid collar. When the scene changes, she has finished tying it and it is neatly centered on his collar.
----------------------------------------------------------
Royal Wedding, 1951!
June Allyson was first cast in the role of Ellen, but became pregnant. Judy Garland was cast next, but MGM terminated her studio contract.
Fred Astaire and Jane Powell sing "How Could You Believe Me When I Said I Love You When You Know I've Been a Liar All My Life," the longest song title in a Hollywood film
